What software do you use at your church for presentations?

1. Google wants to you to get credit for what you create.

Our writings are our livelihood, our thoughts are our capital and with the proliferation of online plagiarism this can be quite hard to manage.  Authorship doesn’t put an end to it, but makes it easier for you to claim your own work online.

2. It helps establish you from others.

As I was going through these articles I thought what is the main thing that can distinguish you from others, and it is your identity, your physical identity. Since the implementation of Google+ Authorship you are able to claim your public identity and your online work or portfolio.  I find that Google+ attracts people who like to share relevant content, especially when you join a community.

3. It can stop you from being a digital sharecropper.

I have many friends whose business efforts are solely dependent on Facebook. If Facebook goes away tomorrow, they would be out of business. It’s basically saying you give all your rights to one provider and if they change their policies or terms of use, your business is at a standstill.  Last year I decided to move my blog from posterous and I am so glad I did especially when twitter acquired them and eventually shut them down.

I set up the TASCAM DR-100mkII 2-Channel Portable Digital Recorder (affiliate link) and turned it up to the maximum setting with and even though you hear some fans and the outside, you can hear the person clearly.

I just don’t have time. I would do it but I am concerned about some details. If I had his talent and resources I certainly would.

 

If we tell the truth many things that we worry and stress about are between our ears. Why start another blog? Why should I film another video and post YouTube? I have struggled with these same thoughts.

My business partner Amani Channel always reminds me there are many burger chains and you can’t be all things to all people, but you can carve out your niche. And that is what I have been doing-Creating my own space. And if I fail that’s fine, but at least I’ll give it my all.

We can get caught up in so many motivational blogs, talks, videos that we FAIL to take action. Henry Ford said it best, “You can’t build a reputation based on what you SAID you were going to do.”

I had the opportunity to use their service on Easter weekend 2013 for the first time and I was very impressed.  I used it for Pleasant Hope Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland and embedded the stream in the Church Online Platform so we embeded chat and social media sharing.

Here are the reasons I recommend Truthcasting:

1. Price
Of course, this can be a catch-22 because a low price is often associated with low quality, but after speaking with the owner Matt Fraizer he assured me this was a ministry, not a money-making venture.  (Even though there is nothing wrong with making money) He told me that the company breaks even and he has other ventures that bring him revenue.

2. Quality
I used  Wirecast system to stream the church services and I was impressed with how easy it was to set up and the streaming quality.   Streaming is everywhere and there are many things that affect quality, but on a busy Sunday like Easter where many churches were streaming  our signal didn’t drop or lose quality.

3. Service
I emailed Matt for an issue on a Saturday afternoon and he sent me a solution back.  In my opinion that is one of the most important things with any company, but especially streaming.  Everyone has issues, and it is up to the company to help and assist with them via phone or live chat support.  Matt did both, and on a Saturday. I know this may not be normal, but I was impressed.

4. No Ads
I know many churches that use UStream of Livestream for streaming services, but there are pre-ads and post ads and I’ve even seen mid ads.  Truthcasting has no ads and I am happy about that.  I understand that ads help keep costs low, but in a free or close to free church streaming environment this is no good.

5. Other ministries
Truthcasting has a vast archive of over 65,000 sermons.  You can watch small churches that you have never heard of and large churches that you may have seen or visited.  They aren’t rookies to the streaming game.

I highly recommend Truthcasting and if you sign up for a free trial, tell them Chip sent you and get 10% off any service.
