I dropped my iPhone in water

You read the headline correct, I dropped my iPhone in water. Thankfully, I used the LifeProof case and it protected it protected it from damage.   Here are a few tips for protecting your iPhone or iPad

  1. Purchase a case that actually protects it from accidental drops/water.  There is not one person who I know (or probably you know too) that has not dropped their phone in water, concrete or had someone damage it.  iPhones are very expensive  and even though the cases may be a bit bulky it will save you a lot of money in the end.
  2. Applecare doesn’t provide the best coverage for insurance.  I am a huge fan of AppleCare for my macs and hardware, for mobile they don’t rank up there with service.  I would suggest you purchase a plan from your carrier and it will protect your phone from loss, damage or theft.  My daughter recently dropped my iPad and cracked the screen and I took it back to Best Buy and received a brand new iPad. Caveat: This was because I purchased the $100 insurance package and it can only be  to replace a damaged iPad one time per year.
  3. Only purchase insurance for up to 1 year. If you are like me, you can sell a well kept iPhone for a good price.  You then use the money from your phone to upgrade to the next generation iPhone. It’s like a hamster wheel, but it works.
  4. Utilize the Find your iPhone app. I heard a story of a man who dropped his iPhone on the golf course while playing his round.  He was able to login and pinpoint the location of the phone on his friends iOS device by installing this free app.

Ah, so sorry to hear that. I’m glad that you did have protection, though. If you didn’t have any type of case for your phone or any warrenty/service plan, then you would be in hot water, as it is expensive to repair an Apple product.

You know what, I left my iphone on my kid’s swing set and I didn’t realize it until after a thunder storm. Thankfully my Otter Box case protected it. I was praising God for His mercies afterwards. :D
