When is a best time to plant a tree? 30 years ago. When is the 2nd best time. Today.

The people who add the most value win. -Michael Hyatt

Your audience doesn’t care about your product. People care about themselves. The essence of evangelism is to passionately show people how you can make history together. Evangelism has little to do with cash flow, the bottom line, or co-marketing. It is the purest and most passionate form of sales because you hare selling a dream, not a tangible object. –Guy Kawaski former Apple employee and Author

Nothing is forever and we know that. I have been building a platform with my business partner Amani Channel for about a year now. We launched Web Video Chefs and have a modest following. We have over 80 free detailed tutorials about video production and social media. We built this after sitting on the idea for about two years. In 2013 we plan to monetize it but we want to continue to build our “tribe”.

I recently read the book Platform and it is a very good book. It doesn’t offer new information, but it organizes information in short chapters that encourage you to build your own home base, a platform.  It is easier to do now than ever.  In this infographic, Hyatt gives 5 steps in building your platform.  Now is the time to act. What is holding you back from building your platform?

Starting reading this today. Great book for anyone who really wants to make social media work for them. Anyone with a blog should definitely ready it.

Great stuff Chip. I think it is important to build your platform focused on providing value as you are doing. It is easy to fall in to the trap of only doing things that would turn a profit. Thanks for the recommendation. The book has been a great read.

Thanks for your comment and I am glad we can be on the ground floor as we build our platforms together and learn from each other.
