I produced a promotional video for the Mayor of Baltimore, entitled Awaken Baltimore.  Awaken Baltimore is a new faith-based initiative that includes partnership between the Mayor and the faith community will engage Baltimore’s faith institutions, neighborhoods, and nonprofits to “awaken” city residents to a stronger commitment to caring, compassion, and civic responsibility in their communities.

The Dads and children were from George Washington Elementary School. 

Pearlman Place was one of Baltimore City's most blighted blocks.   This video was shot in the summer 2009 before the demolition.

I am a big fan of Google.  I think the services they make are rock-solid.  I learned about a new movement in my home city to get Google to bring broadband low cost internet to Baltimore.  I recently filmed Dr. Andrés Alonso, CEO of Baltimore City Public Schools about this endeavor.  For more information visit bmorefiber.com or join the Facebook or Twitter pages.

I had the opportunity to volunteer on December 12th for an organization called Help-Portrait.  Help Portrait is a movement of photographers who are using their time, equipment and expertise to give back to those who are less fortunate during the holiday season. The Baltimore session was organized by Mike and Aaron  of Carbon Copy Cartel and it went extremely well.  This  work was gratifying and I felt a sense of community and energy that is hard to describe. I was listening to NPR Weekend Edition on my iPhone and came across a great collaborative documentary project called Mapping Main Street.  There are 10, 466 named Main in the United States so I decided to  map a main street in Turner Station (Dundalk), Maryland. [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="368" caption="The entrance to Turner Station"] [/caption] I have a been a life-long resident of Baltimore County, Maryland, but I have never  been on this side of the county.  I had a very interesting experience from a church service at the oldest church in the neighborhood to talking to fellas who hang out at "The Pit."  I will be posting my audio and video clips on my blog and share my journey as I "Mapped Main Street."
