“The Scream” A poem by a woman living with sickle cell disease

This is a video I worked on for the William E. Proudford Sickle Cell Fund, Inc.  I had the privilege of working on the video the last four years and this video stretched my creative skills.  The team I worked with was great from casting to post-production.  I hope you enjoy this video as much as I did making it.

    i am a women of sickle cell and i have been dealing with it for a long time now i am only 20 yrs. old and was told that i was not suppost to make it ti see 12 yrs. old but i did i cry every nite waiting on god to call me home because the pain is hard to bare i would not wish this pain upon anyone i wish that i did have this sickness but god always have a reason for doing things im trying to stay strong and staying in his word and holding on is the only way to get throw it all i just pray for those who are in the same boat dat i am in and as i pray for others i pray for myself. that i alway keep a smile on mi face bc life to short to be sad and god whants his child to be happy so for those who have sickle cell keep your head up and know that our pain is united and you are not alone and keep your head up and smile always
